White Nazgul
Written by Azaelia (September 2002)

"Lijaaaaaaaah, wakey up. The sun is shining."

"No, I won't leave this bed today, Dominic."

"Well, my love, I fear you have to. You can't spend the whole day in your bed."

"I can. And I will. Just leave me alone?" Elijah turned away from Dominic and dragged the pillow over his head.

"Elijah, everything okay with you?" Dominic suddenly became a bit concerned. That was not the bouncy Elijah he used to know.

"No," came a muffled response, "I've got a headache, I feel sick and it's freezing cold."

Dominic tugged at the pillow till he could reach Elijah's forehead to check the temperature. "Elijah, you've got a fever, I will call a doctor. And you won't leave that bed."

"Wasn't my idea to get up and I don't need a doctor. It's just a little cold. It will be gone tomorrow."

"Nope, I will call a doctor. There's nothing you can do about it."

"Fine." Elijah gave up, there was not much sense in arguing with Dominic.

Dominic had to wait in the hall while the doc, a chubby old man with white hair and a white beard, investigated Elijah. Suddenly he heard an earth shuddering scream and rushed into the bedroom.

"What happened?"

"I just gave him an injection." The doc tried to calm Dominic who was obviously a bit concerned.

"No, you rammed that, that thing into my arm" Elijah pouted, trying to defend himself. Ignoring his over sensitive patient, the doctor turned to Dominic again.

"He's got an infection, but there's nothing to worry about. I gave him some antibiotic. Take care that he stays in bed for the next few days. If it gets worse, call me again." The doc gave Dominic some drugs and informed him about how much and when Elijah should take them. Then he said goodbye to the boys and went out.

As soon as the doc was out of the door, Dominic started to laugh.

"What? I'm deadly ill and you're laughing! Would you please tell me what's so funny?" Elijah couldn't believe that Dominic was laughing while he was suffering that badly.

"It's just… you went through Mordor, fought against Orcs, beasts, trolls and whatever else. And then you get an injection and you're screaming as if someone wanted to murder you. Elijah, the last time I heard that scream was when that Nazgul stabbed you. Maybe doctors in white are as evil as the black riders." Dominic couldn't stop laughing.

"Ha-ha . That's really funny. I want some sleep now. Go away!" Elijah was still pouting. Unbelievable that he got no support from his mate, friend, LOVER!

"DOMINIC!" Dominic jumped out of the armchair, the scream really scaring him. He ran up the stairs to the bedroom.

"WHAT? WHAT HAPPENED?"

"Stop screaming. I've still got a headache. It is cold. Turn on the heating!"

"Yes, sir." Dominic tried to remain cool. Elijah was sitting on this bed like a king on his throne ordering him around, only that Elijah's throne was surrounded by tissues. Slowly Dominic turned to the radiator to heat the room and after activating it he went downstairs again.

"DOMINIC!"

Dominic jumped again. This time not because he was scared, he was just caught off guard. He just made himself comfy with a good book and some hot chocolate. But Elijah was calling and so he made his way to the bedroom again.

"What do you want?"

"It's too warm. I never said you should turn our bedroom into a sauna."

"You told me to heat the room, I did what you told me. Don't blame me for being too warm now. Are you sure that you're not going through menopause'?"

"Ha-ha, very funny. Just turn off the heater.. please." Dominic did as he was told. Going downstairs again he hoped that he would have some quiet minutes.

"DOMINIC!"

Gradually Dominic got used to the constant calls of Elijah. He had to yawn, he never expected that caring for Elijah would be exhausting, but at this point Dominic was ready to sleep 10 hours straight. He literally dragged his feet on the carpet up to the bedroom.

"Now, Master Baggins, what can I do for you?"

"Master Baggins wants something to drink, some tea.. black tea, now. Don't waste any time, servant."

'Breath, shhhhhhhhhh's okay, he's ill, he's not aware of what he's doing.' Dominic tried to calm himself. He slowly turned around and made his way to the kitchen.

"Bwah, what's that? This is too bitter."

"Elijah, you wanted to have black tea, black tea is bitter."

"I know, but if you would do it right then it wouldn't be that bad."

"Elijah, my dear, I'm English, believe me, if any of us knows how to cook tea, it is not you." To his own surprise Dominic still managed to stay cool. Elijah was one hell of a patient.

"I won't drink that anyway."

"Fine. Don't drink it. Do you want me to get you something else?" Dominic asked, still calm and patient.

"Yes, green tea."

Some hours later, Dominic finally managed to get Elijah some tea he really drank. After the green tea, which didn't taste, he wanted some red tea, which was to sweet. Then he decided he wanted some yellow citrus tea, which tasted too much like citrus. Dominic was really thankful that blue tea didn't exist. At the end Elijah drank the black tea.

"DOMINIC!" Dominic woke up with a start. There it was again. Elijah turned into a monster during the last few hours, and that monster was calling again. Normally Dominic would feel pity for his little monster, sitting in a pile of tissues and constantly sniffling, but Elijah was driving him insane. Sighing he got up again and shuffled to Elijah's room.

"What? Do you want to have some violet tea?" Dominic wasn't able to suppress a sarcastic tone in his voice.

"Why are you so pissed? I'm just bored. Entertain me!"

"Ok, I just have to get some things to entertain you." Dominic made his way out of the bedroom. When he came back he sat down in front of the bed so that Elijah wasn't able to see him.

"Dominic, what are you doing? I can't see you."

Suddenly a sock with a sad painted face and a grinning sock showed up at the end of the bed.

"Why are you so sad?" Dominic began with a high pitched voice,

"Well, my friend is ill," said the sad sock,

"Oh, is it that bad?"

"Oh, no. It's just a harmless infection."

"So, what's the problem?"

"Well, he's ordering me around. Everything I do is wrong. It's really bad. I can't stand it anymore."

The sad sock disappeared for some seconds and when it came back some tears were painted under its eyes.

Elijah had to laugh.

"Am I that bad?"

Dominic sat down on the bed, next to Elijah.

"Actually… yes."

"I'm sorry. I promise to get better. Come here, I want to kiss you. See it as an excuse."

"Nope. I won't kiss you. You're still ill, and I don't want to get your bacteria."

"Some cuddling?"

"Ok, just cuddling. No kissing. And if I get ill you have to care for me. And you can be sure, I'll make you cook every kind of tea I know, and, as I said, I'm English. I know a lot of kinds of tea."

Elijah had to laugh while he pulled Dominic near. He enfolded himself around Dominic.

"Dominic? I love you."

Dominic smiled down at Elijah, brushing some hairs away from Elijah's forehead.

"I love you, too."

He gave Elijah a light kiss on the top of his head and after some minutes both fell asleep with a content smile on their faces.
